Welcome to the second instalment of my new blog!
Spring is definitely in the air – and that can mean only one thing for us here at the Holiday Inn Telford-Ironbridge: Christmas!
Yes, that’s right! For most people this time of year is all about daffodils, Easter eggs and Mother’s Day.
And of course, both Mother’s Day and Easter will be extremely busy for us too, particularly when it comes to the restaurant, but it’s never too soon to start firming up our plans for Christmas.
We’ve planned our parties and are well on the way to completing our Christmas brochure, so we’re all in a strange festive mood here.
It’s not just about Christmas though, since my last blog it seems we’ve been working non-stop to make sure our forward-planning is well and truly sorted out.
I’ve been working with each of the heads of department to draw up a strategy for the next three years, and we’ve set ourselves some tough targets, but I’m confident that my dedicated team will deliver.
Part of our future plans is a full refurbishment of our gym and we’ve ordered a whole host of new equipment, so we’re very excited and can’t wait to see it all in place.
We’ve also taken part in training sessions to learn more about a reward programme for our bookers called Business Advantage and Business Club, and we’ll be launching this soon, so watch this space!
As a result of our training sessions in Birmingham, we’re looking to introduce an updated customer service training programme which will help our staff boost their skills even further.
I’ve been busy around the hotel itself too and have started a new initiative where I walk round the hotel with different members of staff so we can carry out a quality check of all aspects of the business.
So far I’ve done my rounds with the head housekeeper, the facilities manager and our guest relations manager, and the new system is working really well.
It means I get to see things from each department’s perspective, as well as my own, and it means I can see for myself how the hotel is running on a day-to-day basis, rather than being stuck behind a desk.
If you are planning to join us for Mother’s Day or Easter (or both!) – come and say “hello”, and you never know, you could get a mention in my very next blog!
