Wendy’s Blog – So here it is….Merry Christmas!

September 11, 2014 No Comments

Can you believe it’s Autumn already? We might be enjoying a late burst of sun and warmth, but make no mistake, the nights are drawing in.

And for us here at The Holiday Inn Telford-Ironbridge, that means we’re in top gear for the countdown to Christmas.

Yes, there it is – I said it! CHRISTMAS!

Now keen followers will know that we’ve been planning for the festive season for several months already – it feels so strange planning a Christmas menu in July!

But now the season’s on the turn, there really is no escape.

So it’s been great as I write this blog to think back and reflect on what a glorious summer we’ve all had.

Festival Fever hit the hotel thanks to the incredible T-Live event with both visitors and members of the bands who performed staying with us; and as ever, V Festival guests received a warm welcome from our team.

Staycation has been a key word for everyone in the tourism sector, and we’ve definitely benefited from more and more families choosing to holiday closer to home rather than battling their way through a crowded airport with children in tow.

So much so, that we created a kiddies play area specifically for our younger guests, where they were treated to a free  glass of milk and a cookie!

We also had a visit from members of the Tall Persons Club GB and Ireland for their annual conference – you have to be 6ft 4 or over to join, so I won’t be eligible any time soon!

And of course, as we always do, we’re constantly looking to source more local produce for our menus, and our Head Chef Nigel met up with representatives from Cherrington Farm to discuss adding some of their products to our festive fare.

We sampled a wide range of phenomenal steaks which now feature on our new bar menu, and our restaurant menu – it’s amazing how much more tasty the steak is when the cattle have been lovingly cared for throughout their lives.

So there you have it – a trip down memory lane remembering a hectic and positive summer for everyone here at the hotel.

Now it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get festive!

Let me be the first to wish you “Happy Christmas” for 2014! Have you done your shopping yet?
